The NSO’s magnificent new 2024 season officially began with a night of glamor and romance as classical music’s newest rock star Yunchan Lim performed one of the world’s greatest masterpieces, Rachmaninoff’s sweeping Piano Concerto No. 2. Hailed as a “one-in-a-million talent” (Dallas Morning News) with “the potential to become a once-in-generation pianist” (The New Yorker), Lim became the youngest Gold Award winner at the 2022 Van Cliburn International Competition.
The Kennedy Center annually hosts a Fourth of July rooftop celebration with free public viewing of the National Mall fireworks.
